Grotesquary: Cult of the grotesque
17/11/13 || gk
Not to be confused for the Rogga Johansson project, this Swedish band play an enjoyable death thrash mix and “Cult of the grotesque” is the band’s second EP. There’s a definite Slayer/ Possessed vibe to these songs, particularly in the lead guitar playing, and it is fun for what it is. “State of necrocracy” is a great opener, while “In blood possessed” works well with a thick bottom end, slowed down tempos and a slightly more death metal feel. “Zombie infection” is pretty much classic Deceased worship and is another fun song while title song “Cult of the grotesque” goes for a more melodic death metal feel and works quite well. Don’t expect anything original here but the four songs are all fun and never outstay their welcome.
7.5/10: Looking forward to more.
After going thru that crap, you most likely wanna read something way more interesting. You do, admit it.
